A TRIBUNAL HAS WARNED media owner Anthony Bryan that his application against the Copyright Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Incorporated (COSCAP) will be dismissed if he is not present or ready to proceed when the hearing resumes on December 11.
Chairman Emmerson Graham said today while the matter had been filed years ago, there were times when the tribunal was “sitting here, not doing anything” because of factors including Bryan’s absence and his failure to respond to a number of orders.
Bryan is seeking a better deal from COSCAP, arguing that his two radio stations, Faith FM and BBS, were small operations and should be charged a lower rate on royalties than their big competitors.
When the hearing resumed today in the Baobab Towers, in Warrens, St Michael, he apologized to the tribunal and gave the assurance he would press on with the case, even in the absence of a lawyer.
He has until November 8 to set out his case in affidavit form, while COSCAP was given until November 29 to respond. (TY)
