The condition of a Byde Mill, St George road had reached such an unbearable state that two residents took matters into their own hands yesterday.
Trevor Greenidge and another man, who prefered to be called Mr Brereton, decided to fill in the potholes in their neighbourhood to avoid damage to their vehicles and those of other residents.
Sixty-four-year-old Brereton said he could no longer sit by and do nothing after seeing the deteriorating state of the road.
At about 9 a.m. the two started packing the hole with marl to make the road accessible.
Here, Brereton spreading marl in the road.
