Thirteen of the 47 workers at the FedEx Barbados operation will be sent home on Monday next week.
This comes as the global courier delivery services company, which is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, makes adjustments to its operations here.
Speaking to the SATURDAY SUN from her Miami office, Susanne Haase, communications advisor for the Caribbean and Latin America, said the company would continue to work with the affected staff members who were “primarily in operations”.
Haase said human resource officials and management from the head office were currently in Barbados “working” with the affected staffers, and it was likely some of them could be absorbed into other areas of the company’s operations.
“There is a staff adjustment that will be evaluated very carefully,” said Haase.
“There will be 34 employees left in the operation. Thirteen have been affected by this adjustment of service. And it is those 13 that we are working with to offer a severance package that is above the statutory requirements,” said Haase.
