Four crewmen charged

FOUR GUYANESE CREWMEN are scheduled to appear in court today to answer charges stemming from a joint operation earlier this week which netted drugs and a submarine pistol.
Police have charged Tito Talo Moore, 26, of Lindon Highway, Kururu; Carlton Andre Lacaille, 43, of Caneville Grove, Eastbank, Demerara; Burkeley Levert Crawford, 24, of Mount Sinai, New Amsterdam, Berbice; and 30-year-old Yagpaul Bhisundial of Edinburgh Scheme, Eastbank, Demerara.
The four are crew on the cargo vessel MV Regina and were jointly charged yesterday with possession of cannabis; possession with intent to supply cannabis; trafficking cannabis; importation of cannabis; possession of cocaine; possession with intent to supply cocaine; trafficking cocaine; importation of cocaine; illegal possession of a firearm and illegal importation of a firearm.
Last Tuesday, a joint operation was carried out by members of the Police Drug Squad, the Enforcement Unit of the Barbados Customs and Excise Department and the Barbados Coast Guard where 107 packages of cannabis weighing 101.02 kilograms, 20.6 kgs of cocaine and one submachine pistol were found and seized while in the Bridgetown Port.
The vessel had sailed from Guyana and arrived in Barbados around 8:20 p.m. that evening.
Moore, Lacaille, Crawford and Bhisundial will appear in District A Magistrates Court today.  Four other crew members were allowed to return to the vessel. (PR)
