Well known?crime fighter Inspector Anderson “Invader” Bowen died on Friday night at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Bowen, 54, a 35-year veteran of the police force was hospitalized a week ago with a heart-related condition. He was initially being treated at the Intensive Care Unit but was later transferred to a ward.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Mark Thompson yesterday described the tall, burly Bowen as “an extremely kind man”.
“He was my personal friend and we worked at the CID together. People knew him as a tough crime fighter but he was an extremely kind man.”
Bowen was recently put in charge of the clean-up of Bridgetown called Operation Recapture Bridgetown.
He was regarded as one of the force’s top detectives, with a reputation for rounding up some of the more notorious criminal elements, such as the infamous Winston Hall.
Bowen leaves to mourn his wife Charmaine Roland-Bowen, president of the Barbados Road safety Association and son Anderson Jr.
