NO-NONSENSE Inspector Anderson “Invader” Bowen, who died on October 18 of heart complications, was eulogized yesterday as one of the country’s greatest ever police officers, a pioneer, model investigator and motivator.
Hundreds of mourners, including the leadership and rank and file of the Royal Barbados Police Force, packed the Abundant Life Assembly church to pay their final respects to Bowen.
Also in attendance were Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, former prime minister Sir Lloyd Sandiford, Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite and other Government ministers as well as judges and magistrates.
The lengthy service included tributes from relatives, close friends and colleagues, all of whom spoke glowingly about the officer’s impressive 35-year career and his dedication to family and friends.
Giving a history of Bowen’s policing career, Senior Superintendent Leila Boyce said Bowen, who was 58, enlisted in the force in 1978 and on completion of his training was viewed as a resourceful policeman.
