Runway fashions at BBFW

Bridgetown Barbados Fashion Week (BBFW) climaxed Sunday night with Rotterdam-based Jamaican designer Carmichael Byfield from House of Byfield showcasing some to-die-for prints in a 2014 men’s collection that can be described as elegant wear with an eye for detail and a sporty touch.
His “daywear suits” are for men who dare to dress well and aren’t afraid to wear colours, as seen in the yellow, purple and brown pieces.
BBFW kicked off Friday night under a tent in Independence Square with Kesia Estwick’s Kesia Couture. Rozana Moseley had plus-sized women in La Rosa Couture, the vibrant Shanika Burnett showcased her Shakad Luxury Resort pieces, and Rhea Cummings-Jordan put models into Aria Urban Fashions.
On Saturday night Estwick returned with her KISS Urban ready-to-wear, Sea Reinas had fun, flirty swimwear with frills and motifs, Anthony Red Fashion House and Dawn Creations out of Trinidad and Tobago showcased pieces from their couture and urban collections that had the audience gasping and applauding.
Show-closer K. Baptiste of St Vincent had a cohesive collection with pieces that can move from runway to boardroom or cocktails. A green sequinned dress elicited oohs and aahs and her casual rompers and jumpsuits could fit into any fashionista’s wardrobe.  (NS)
