Juniors hit Soup Bowl

OVER 70 INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR SURFERS, including the son of three-time World Surfing Champion Tom Curren and the man himself, are set to take on the best of local surfing talent when the Barbados Surfing Association rolls out the highlight of its event calendar at the Soup Bowl, Bathsheba today.
And while the local junior surfing contingent is expected to take their Independence pride into the water, they have been warned – their international rivals would give 11-time World Surfing Champion Kelly Slater a run for his money.
This is the word from the Barbados Surfing Association president Christopher Clarke.
He was speaking to the DAILY NATION on the eve of the four-day Sprite Soup Bowl Junior Pro, held in conjunction the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America, and the McEnearney Quality Inc. Independence Pro.
