Three arrested for marijuana possession

THREE PEOPLE were arrested for possession of marijuana after police searched two separate party boats this weekend.
Dario Deigo Bowen, 20 years of Marchfield, St Philip;  Javon Justin Fabian Yearwood, 24, of Kendall Hill, Christ Church and 33-year-old Tania Nariba Grant of Rockhampton Road, Grazettes, St Michael were arrested on Saturday evening.
Members of the Police Marine Unit and Barbados Coast Guard conducted a joint operation on board MV Buccaneer around 11:45 p.m.
The boat was stopped just off the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex and escorted back to the dock at Cavans Lane where the searches were conducted.
Loose quantities of marijuana weighing 84 grams were found discarded around various parts of the boat, while Bowen, Yearwood and Grant had quantities of the illegal drug. They will appear in the District A Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The cruise was cancelled.
Meanwhile, a similar search was conducted on board the Jolly Roger where it was docked earlier today.
Activity on board the ship was discontinued after searches netted 18 grams of marijuana which had also been discarded. No arrests were made. (PR)
