A?substantial increase in dengue cases is prompting the Ministry of Health to intensify its mosquito eradication campaign with a new drive under the theme Search And Destroy.
There will be a number of activities between November 25 and 29, aimed at motivating all Barbadians to conduct regular inspections of homes, schools, workplaces and other institutions.
At a Press briefing yesterday at the ministry’s Culloden Road office, Minister of Health John Boyce disclosed that this year there were 676 confirmed cases with two deaths compared to 253 cases and one death over the similar period last year.
Boyce said this data was not merely statistical and sent a message to Barbadians that there was a risk of death and the development of severe dengue fever. (LK)
