Workers of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA)?who have been on strike since last Thursday will return to their jobs today as the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), management of the BWA and officials of the Labour Department return to the bargaining table this morning after a near five-hour meeting yesterday evening at the Labour Office.
After they emerged from the meeting at 9:28 p.m., both Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer Suckoo and BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman gave assurances there would be no recriminations or victimizations on either side.
Byer Suckoo, who chaired the meetings yesterday, told the media that they had made some progress.
“We have made headway on some of the issues but we do have to continue discussions. We have agreed that we will meet back here at 9:30 in the morning and try to get to the meat of the matter.
“In terms of what we are discussing, some of the matters are too detailed to actually be resolved tonight or even by tomorrow morning.”
