KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC — A joint operation involving several units of the local Police Force nabbed 34 kilogrammes of cocaine during an operation on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, who is also Minister of National Security,  told Parliament on today that early Tuesday, acting on information, Drug Squad officers, received word of a cocaine shipment between local and Venezuelan drug dealers.
This led to a joint operation between the Coast Guard, the Rapid Response Unit and the Special Services Unit.
According to Gonsalves, a local speedboat collected the drug and landed it at Questelles beach on the southwestern coast of St Vincent.
It is  alleged that a Venezuelan came ashore with the drug.
The police searched the shore and bushes at Questelles and recovered a nylon sack containing 34 cocaine bricks, each weighing one kilogramme.
Gonsalves said  the find is “multi-million dollar haul” but no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
