The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) have settled what the labour organizer calls “one of the most vexing issues” in their dispute – recognition.
BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman said yesterday that on Friday the union received a letter from the Water Authority “formally accepting” it as the bargaining agent on pay and other conditions of work for a number of employees.
Sir Roy had complained that the BWA was denying people in supervisory and management positions the right to be union members.
“We have managed to resolve one of the most vexing of issues in our relationship with the Barbados Water Authority,” the Independent Senator told the DAILY NATION during the Senate’s luncheon break. (TY)
