The tour of the historic Garrison and its environs has scored big with a major cruise line operating in Barbados just one year after it was instituted.
The cruise ship Emerald Princess yesterday presented Goddards Shipping and Tours Ltd with the award of Low Volume Tour Of The Season 2012/13, for the Garrison tour, selected through a survey done with passengers from among the more than 3 000 on the ship who went ashore in Barbados and subsequently voted the new tour as one of their favourite activities on the island.
The Garrison tour, which takes in George Washington House where the first President of the United States holidayed as a teenager, the surrounding former British Garrison and the symbolic Changing Of The Guard ceremony, is included in the Emerald Princess’ onshore activities on the Barbados leg of its ten-day Caribbean itinerary.
Vice president of the Barbados Garrison Consortium Inc. Peter Stevens was on board the vessel along with Nicki King of Goddards Shipping and Tours Inc, to accept the award.
