Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave was in the spotlight yesterday as he presided over the beginning of the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas hamper distribution at its Reed Street, Bridgetown headquarters.
Sir Elliott praised the work of the Army, saying he did not know how they did so much with so little.
With scores of people lining up on the outside for much-needed Christmas goodies, those with tickets who had been interviewed and vetted beforehand came up to receive the first of the hampers from Sir Elliott, many of whom appeared awed at the experience.
