Guild: Still no to fees

The Guild of Students remains adamantly opposed to the paying of tuition fees by Barbadian students at the University of the West Indies.
President Damani Parris told the media yesterday its position was “fair” and they did not want to retreat from it.
“The guild has not yet considered revising its position. We have stated our position extremely clearly and we think that it is extremely essential we maintain that position for the protection and interest of the students.
“It was a fair position when we took it and it is still a fair position today. We believe that if we continue to hold strong to our principles and to the just position we have taken, that we can expect the best results from it,” he said, adding he hoped this would allow them to maintain a situation where they would not have to retreat or surrender their principles.
