A shortage of Black Forest Ham over the Christmas holiday has left Subway Barbados owner frustrated and some customers unhappy.
Speaking to the SUNDAY SUN yesterday, Subway Barbados franchise owner Simon Elias said the two restaurants use local ham for four different subs and from Boxing Day they remained without the Black Forest Ham.
According to the businessman, it was frustrating that local producers were frequently calling for the use of local products, but their ability to maintain supply was questionable.
“We have used local ham from the inception of Subway and we are obviously trying with all the controversy to get more meats locally produced.
“This is one meat and we have a problem [so] it scares you to get more meats produced locally because you never know what is going to happen,” Elias said.
