NUPW still hopeful

THE NATIONAL UNION of Public Workers (NUPW) is looking to take up its issues with the way hundreds of workers in the Drainage Division were dismissed with the Ministry of the Civil Service.
Speaking at a Press conference at the Horatio Cooke Auditorium earlier today, general secretary Dennis Clarke said the union sent correspondence to the Ministry of the Civil Service this morning to discuss the matter.
Even though the union said it was “unfortunate” that workers have been sent home before the proposed January 15 date and in the absence of the usual meetings, the NUPW has not given up hope and is hoping the Ministry of Civil Service will intercede in the situation and that the January 15 window “is still open”.
