ONE NIGHT ONLY!
As a result of further financial blows, the Barbados Music, Fashion and Film Awards will be consolidated into one event, slated for next Sunday at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
Executive director of the event, Ronnie Morris made the disclosure on Friday afternoon in a telephone interview with the SATURDAY SUN, adding that it was in an effort to cut costs after a “public sector sponsor” was unable to provide assistance.
“We had verbal confirmation of a sponsor, a public sector sponsor, and [the sponsorship] could not be materialized. We are not pointing fingers or placing blame, but it is just in the nature of how things are,” he said.
“We are very understanding, and because we are understanding, we have to make executive decisions in the best interest of the company and of the event, so we were holding until the last minute for that to realize. Then we made the decision to have one event in a three-hour period.” (LW)
