THE NEW YEAR has started brightly for surfer Bruce Mackie.
Following some good performances last season, the Barbadian has attracted sponsorship from international surfing goods makers SPLIT and Fin-S.
SPLIT, which was founded in 1988 and is based in Southern California, has deep roots in skate, surf, music and fashion, while Fin-S, a unique tool-less fin system, was founded by the Posner brothers with the intention of making something quicker, easier and more functional.
Mackie was crowned 2012 Western Atlantic Professional Surf Series Caribbean champion, while he also placed second in the Revolt Surf Summer Series Pro/Am Men’s Division at Pacific Beach, California, last July. (RB)
