A?CALL has been made for a Classic Car Show to be held monthly.
It came from some members of the Barbados Association of Classic Cars (BACC) which organized last Sunday’s Courtesy Garage 2014 Content Classic Car Revival at Content, Thomas.
Show coordinator and secretary of the BACC, George Ullyett, told the media that interest was so high, not only from the public but from members, that some people were asking for a show to be held monthly.
“Where it may sound good and exciting, it would not be possible and could lose it’s attractiveness over time, but two shows are held annually and we may just be able to add one more,” Ullyett noted.
He said the BACC was glad once again to have the support from Courtesy Garage as title sponsor, with assistance from Tropical Battery, GoodYear Tyres, Nissan, Hyundai, Farmer’s Choice, Reflex and Courtesy Rent-A-Car. A display of new cars from Courtesy Garage was part of the show, which was also held by participants to gauge their preparation for the upcoming annual Holetown Festival.
Classics cars – 30 years and older, historic rally cars – 25 years and older, “barn finds” – old cars that had been put down for a long time but restored, and motor cycles took centre stage at the day-long event.
The recently restored MGA owned by enthusiast Dr Christopher Maynard, and a Lancia restored by John “Ding” King, both winners at the October show last year, were among the exhibits at the show.
Ullyett revealed that a second Classic Car Show will take place in July to coincide with the Crop Over Festival.
