LAST?year, the Care Ministry of St Dominic’s Church served 5 000 lunchtime meals for communities in Christ Church.
This year with the kind sponsorship of Sandals Barbados Resort &?Spa via the Sandals Foundation, they have embarked on a major breakfast programme which will facilitate near 100 children from two Christ Church schools.
Yesterday at the Pastoral Centre in Maxwell, general manager of Sandals, Joe Zellner, presented a cheque to the Care Ministry, a non-profit community outreach organisation that has been in operation since December 2009.
“The breakfast programme goes out to about 100 children every day of the week, and we are delighted to be associated with such a cause.
“Through our philanthropy arm, we are always keen to give back to the community and support worthy causes, and what better to support than children, the future of the nation,” he said.
The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), which has seven satellite centres already in operation, is lending technical support to the programme, which was launched two weeks ago.
President of the YWCA, Andrea Taylor, said they were pleased that another corporate entity had joined the breakfast programme.
