BAYVIEW HOSPITAL has finally changed hands – and is apparently in line for major expansion.
After years of reports of offers and counter offers, the WEEKEND NATION has learnt that a company partly owned by insurance industry executive Peter Harris, operating under the name VKC Inc., recently bought out the private hospital on Beckles Road.
Sources said yesterday the 25-year-old 23-bed hospital would now undergo a major makeover and expansion programme to have it equipped with a full-fledged accident and emergency department and accompanying intensive care unit, along with neurological and radiological services.
According to WEEKEND NATION investigations, VKC Inc. was incorporated on May 16 last year with the legal papers drawn up by attorney at law Andrew Pilgrim. They list Harris and gastroenterologist and endoscopist Dr Kwame V. Connell, the residential address for both of whom was stated as #4 Prior Park Heights, St James, as directors. The company is identified as a “medical investment and property management” entity.
