PRIME?MINISTER?Freundel Stuart has dismissed any notion of an eminent persons group running Barbados and described the suggestion as “a lot of noises coming from some very strange quarters”.
He has also endorsed his Cabinet as persons eminent enough to run the country because they were duly elected by the people of Barbados.
Stuart was speaking before an attentive audience that included a number of Cabinet ministers and former Prime Minister Sir Lloyd Erskine and Lady Sandiford at the premiere of the 2014 lecture series of the James Tudor Institute of Politics at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. The event was part of a week of activities celebrating Father of Independence Errol Barrow yesterday.
Stuart’s position followed calls by Opposition Barbados Labour Party leader Mia Mottley and others for a group of experts to advise his Government on the way forward in light of the economic challenges facing the country.
