GO HOME!
That is the suggestion from an Anglican priest to public sector workers who do not fall into the targeted 3 500 to be laid off, but may need to be retrenched for lack of effort.
Speaking at the Errol Barrow Memorial Service at St Luke’s Anglican Church yesterday morning, rector John Rogers said the biggest problem in this country was in the area of civics, adding that the lack of productivity destroyed a nation.
“In our workplaces there is no productivity. Persons come to work and they sit down, read the newspaper, chat on the phone, go to lunch, come back, take out their bags and their car keys and go home. If we do not produce, if we have lost that passion, that intensity that helps to build a nation, we’re destroying this nation,” Rogers cautioned in his sermon titled The Soul Of A Nation.
