Elderly man falls to his death

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly man who apparently fell from a ladder and died on the spot around 9:30 a.m. this morning.
According to police public relations officer Inspector David Welch, 74-year-old Edgar Clinton of 2nd Avenue, Upper Carlton, St. James was in the company of two workmen doing maintenance to his property when he fell.
Clinton is resident in New York.
Meanwhile, police are also investigating an incident in which members of the Criminal Investigation Division were shot at “a number of times” last night.
Welch said they were on mobile patrol in Chapman Lane, The City around 11 p.m. when they were shot at by unknown assailants who ran away. Police returned fire.
One of the detectives in the patrol was slightly injured. (PR/NB)
