THE NATIONAL HOUSING CORPORATION (NHC) is ready to finish work on houses at Constant, St George itself should the need arise.
Moreover, should push come to shove, the state entity is also prepared to sell the properties “as is” to interested homeowners.
Minister of Housing Denis Kellman made these assertions as he gave an update on his ministry’s work during a St James South branch meeting in Wanstead, St James, on Sunday.
Initially slated to cost $12 million, the joint venture between CLICO Holdings Ltd and the NHC has been stalled for the past four years.
The project was supposed to consist of 65 two-bedroom houses. They were to be available to the public at between $100 000 and $150 000.
Kellman admitted that “we had a problem at Constant whether we continue with CLICO or whether the NHC would take over.
“We have the workmen at the NHC that we can complete them if we have to,” he said in answer to a question from a member of the audience.
