ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC) – Search and rescue teams have called off their search for two fishermen missing at sea since February 1 and now feared dead.
The Dominica Coast Guard and the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre of Martinique were involved in the search for Andy Mitchel, 33 and 28-year-old Samuel Mitchel.
The two men left Portsmouth, north of here, on February 1 in their boat Take It Easy on a fishing expedition.
“The chances for a recovery were almost impossible, because the police have exhausted all the resources that were available to them and they did not find any of the bodies, or any boat or whatsoever … so this is the reason why it was called off,” police public relations officer John Carbon said.
