THE WEST INDIES Under-19s were soundly beaten by the South Africans this morning in their opening match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Dubai.
South Africa won by 94 runs, limiting the West Indies to 104 after batting first and scoring 198 for nine.
Barbadian pacer Jerome Jones went for an economical 25 runs off his ten overs, taking one wicket.
But the West Indies top order showed no resistance.
At one point, three wickets were down with only one run on the board and they could not build any meaningful partnerships.
West Indies are at the bottom of the table in Group C. Zimbabwe are in second place after beating Canada by six wickets yesterday.
