ONE OF THE ORGANISERS of this year’s Holetown Festival sees the increase in stalls as a win/win situation for both tourists and vendors.
Manager of planning at the Barbados Tourism Authority and member of the Holetown Festival Committee, Bernard Phillips, said on Saturday that stall space at the 38th incarnation of the street fair was limited and had been in high demand and by the beginning of last month, spaces had been over-subscribed.
“We had 180 persons registered for stalls. We had a very high repeat clientele who come back year after year,” he said.
“It is a good opportunity for community tourism. Visitors get added value and the vendors have the opportunity to make money,” Phillips told the Daily Nation as he said the festival was a success, especially in terms of public response to the week of activities.
Holetown Festival climaxed last night with the Queen Of The Festival Pageant at the Frederick Smith School. (HLE)
