BARBADIANS PLANNING to attend the University of the West Indies (UWI) from this August could pay fees ranging from $7 000 to $18 000 or higher, depending on their course of study.
A statement released by the UWI noted that the fees for full-time students in the 2013/2014 academic year ranged from $6 675 for Humanities and Education, $9 858 for Law, $17 668 for Medical Sciences (clinical), $6 675 for Science and Technology, and $6 675 for Social Sciences.
It stated that these fees should be used as a guide for those payable come August, but noted “these fees may be subject to a marginal increase for the 2014/2015 academic year”.
First-time students must also pay an additional $500 for the foundation English course if they do not hold a Grade 1 at the CSE level or have not been successful in the university English Proficiency Test.
