BARBADOS are on the verge of Davis Cup history.
All that separates the home side and a spot in its first ever Americas Group II final is one more victory, as El Salvador’s doubles team retired hurt today at the National Tennis Centre.
Trailing 6-2, 4-6, 6-7(9), Marcelo Arevalo finally succumbed to a back injury while playing with brother Rafael to give the duo of Darian King and Haydn Lewis the win – and Barbados a crucial 2-1 lead.
The hosts now need just a win from either of tomorrow’s reverse singles matches to advance to their first Group II final in September. (JM)
