BARBADOS WON their 22nd regional first-class cricket title today, retaining the WICB President’s Trophy for the Regional 4-Day league tournament.
However, the job is not done, as they will still be playing for the Headley/Weekes Trophy in the Regional 4-Day Final Challenge.
After defeating the Leeward Islands by an innings and 49 runs yesterday in Antigua, Barbados jumped ten points ahead of Trinidad and Tobago on 82.
Trinidad and Tobago needed to take nine wickets against Guyana today to win the title, but rain came and they had to settle for a draw. They finished on 80 points and the Windward Islands were a distant third on 65.
Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, the Windwards and Jamaica have advanced to the semi-finals of the Final Challenge.
Those matches will run from Saturday through Tuesday, starting at 10 a.m. Barbados will host Jamaica at Kensington Oval and the Windwards will journey to Trinidad to play at Queen’s Park Oval.
