Martial arts tourney Saturday

THE?Caribbean Fight League (CFL) will be staging the 5th Regional Mixed Martial Arts Championships at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday from 6 p.m.
Dubbed Massacre 5, there will be four main bouts on the night’s card with the feature attraction showcasing Kittitian professional Tija Stanley against Bryan Bohouri of Martinique in a light-heavyweight title match.
The featherweight bout where Jonathan Giannone of France will defend his title against Trinidadian Ruel Henry, will also take centre stage as well as the bantamweight clash, featuring Barbadian Jason Greene and Trinidadian Seon Adhar.
Calvin Ifill of Barbados and Kerron Parris of Trinidad and Tobago will also clash in a heavyweight title match on the card which is sponsored by Bubba’s Sports Bar and Restaurant and the Barbados Tourism Authority.
Junior bouts
There will be two junior bouts with Barbadian Shakeem Marshall taking on Trinidadian Kadeem Brewster and Demaggio Cumberbatch facing Stephano Alleyne in a local fight.
In other bouts, Trinidadian Stephan White will clash with local boy Romell Inniss in a lightweight encounter; Barbadians Renaldo Stuart and Oneale Chase square off in a welterweight battle and another Bajan Sheldon Jones face Steve Ardees of Martinique.
“Fans can expect great mixed martial arts action because they will be seeing some of t he best exponents of the sport in the region as we set the stage for the hosting of an even bigger event layer this year,” CFL?director Rollins Alleyne told MIDWEEK?SPORT.
The juniors will battle in three two-minute rounds while the adults will compete in three five-minute rounds.
The weigh-in for all competitors will take place on Friday at the Reggae Lounge at 8 p.m.
