A?baby?girl has spent most of her seven months in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) battling uncontrollable seizures that are life-threatening.
Little Ahnyiah Small has been in and out, mostly in, the QEH since her birth last September and only top-class medical care in North America can lead to a normal existence.
Heartbroken mum Gaynell Small, speaking to the DAILY?NATION from Ward C8 yesterday afternoon, said her daughter would require more than $500 000 to cover medical expenses alone for what has been described as an uncontrollable seizure disorder condition.
Small, who has been fighting on a daily basis to hold back the tears, said it has been very stressful on the family.
“When she gets a seizure sometimes her lips turn blue, meaning that the oxygen is not going to the brain. Sometimes when she is shaking, there is saliva, so I have to turn her in another position so that the saliva will run out to the side.
“Sometimes there is eye-blinking or half the body is shaking or stiff. Another time, the entire body shakes; it varies. She’s epileptic and it is life-threatening,” said a crestfallen Small.
