THE BAN on cell phones in schools could soon be lifted.
Minister of Education Ronald Jones hinted at such today during his feature address at the opening of a six-week workshop for primary school teachers titled Science Teacher Readiness for 21st Century Classrooms at Erdiston Teachers’ Training College.
Jones said the cell phone was an “admirable” and “superior” learning tool and since every child had one, a lot of work could be done using the tool.
His seeming relaxed stance on cell phones follows a call for the lifting of the ban from economist Ryan Straughan at Combermere School speech day earlier this month.  (YB)
