It takes a village

THE ROLE OF THE COMMUNITY in protecting the island’s children is being underscored as Child Month is celebrated under the theme Let’s Embrace and Appreciate our Children.
The month of activities by the Child Care Board (CCB) was launched at the Ministry of Social Care, Warrens Office this morning, and Director Joan Crawford said child protection is a community problem.
She called for greater community and church involvement to assist with cushioning the impact of supervisory neglect.
Crawford said the supervisory neglect was a major concern for the CCB.
“We want to encourage persons, parents and guardians to look out and if you see anything that his happening that you can report to the Child Care Board.
“There is a saying we are our brother’s keeper and we are our sister’s keepers and where you can lend some assistance within your community you can let us know,” Crawford said. (LK)
