BARBADOS’ top female beach volleyball pair of Shari Matthews and Anicia Wood will be competing in Guatemala this weekend in the second stop of the North, Central American and Caribbean (NORCECA) Confederation’s Continental Circuit.
The circuit which started last weekend in Cayman Islands and consists of 14 tournaments this year will have two stops in Guatemala. This weekend Guatemala City will host the second event on the NORCECA beach volleyball calendar and action will switch to the old city of Antigua, from May 7 to 12.
Matthews and Wood will be looking to earn Barbados valuable points as the tour is a qualifier for the 2015 Pan American Games to be held in Toronto next year.
These back-to-back tournaments in Guatemala will also serve as preparation for the pair as Barbados will be competing in the first round of Olympic qualifiers for the Rio 2016 Games in July. (PR/EZS)
