This year’s St Michael parish ambassadors Sharifa Yarde and Dario Bowen are on a mission to get St Michael residents to clean up their communities.
The two shared details of their Independence parish project Time 4 Change with the congregation of St Paul’s Anglican Church, where the St Michael Independence Parish Committee launched the project yesterday.
Bowen and Yarde outlined their vision of fostering healthier attitudes and inspiring communities in their parish to create green environments.
They said the project was about changing attitudes of people to get them more involved in cleaning up and keeping their surroundings clean.
“The objectives are to create and improve physical environments that are more pleasing and healthier than before, and to identify and create avenues for employment, entrepreneurship . . . ,” Yarde said.
They plan to visit communities and schools with the message: Clean Up Your Environment.
The Future Centre Trust is supporting the ambassadors in the project, and trust member Kammie Holder told the congregation many people took littering for granted, but the effect had a very detrimental impact on the environment and people’s health. (GC)
