THE BARBADOS CHAMBER of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) will be mounting a trade mission to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, Canada from May 24 to 30, 2014.
Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development Donville Inniss will lead the delegation with a goal of strengthening the partnership between Canada and Barbados.
The mission is hoping to assess the possibilities in Atlantic Canada and further develop trade activities by meeting a number of pre-qualified potential customers, suppliers, partners, agents, distributors and other key industry contacts and organizations in both territories.
The BCCI noted in a release that it had secured a well-placed business to business match-making services provider from Atlantic Canada to ensure that members in the delegation can strategically liaise with clients in their field of endeavour.
According to BCCI executive director Lisa Gale, the mission is expected to allow attendees to gain more knowledge of the market potential for Barbadian products in Atlantic Canada.
“The visit is a follow up to our last trip in 2012 which attendees hailed as a success. We are keen to build on the connections made and participants are once again looking forward to new business opportunities and contacts, benchmarking ideas, novel ways of doing business, potential training opportunities and a better understanding of the market,” Gale said.
The eleven-member trade mission represents various sectors, including clothing and textiles, distribution and information technology. President of the Barbados American Chamber of Commerce Barbara Brathwaite will also be accompanying the mission as one of its partners.
The mission is made possible by the BCCI, Barbados Investment Development Corporation (BIDC) and partners from the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Innovation PEI and Nova Scotia Business Inc. with support from the High Commission of Canada.
