Crop Over prep begins

WITH LESS THAN 24 hours to go, the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) is in preparation mode for the Crop Over lift off weekend which is expected to get people into a festive mood.
The weekend begins tomorrow with the LIME/HOTT 95.3 Crop Over Preview which, as the name suggests, will give patrons a taste of the events planned for the 2014 festival calendar.
Preparations are already underway to transform the NCF car park – dubbed Crop Over Grande Central – into a hive of activity and entertainment where reigning Sweet Soca Monarch Blood, nine-time Calypso Monarch Red Plastic Bag, 2013 Calypso Monarch Ian Webster, 2007 International Groovy Soca Monarch Biggie Irie, members of the Soca Army and the veteran Grynner are expected to take the stage.
The LIME/HOTT 95.3 Crop Over Preview is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
The action continues on Saturday with the CBC Crop Over Crawl in association with Banks and the Transport Board.  This 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. event will include a 40 foot trailer carrying popular entertainers like Porgie & Murda, Mr Dale,  Kirk Brown and Calypso Monarch Adrian Clarke.
The NCF has also included a special stop in Weston, St James to honour the late, great Carew.  Chief executive officer Cranston Browne is expected to lay a wreath on the site from which he and his house were washed into the sea.
The crawl is designed to awaken the spirit of the season on an excursion to communities across the island.  The kick off point is Crop Over Grande Central and stops will be made in Road View, St Peter, Bathsheba, St Joseph, Four Roads St Philip, the Glebe, St George and finally, De Lime Bar Stadium Road, St. Michael.
