Awesome spiritual journey

A POWERFUL?SPIRITUAL journey in song and dance.
That best sums up the Gospelfest Sunset Concert 2014 in Independence Square, The City, where a massive crowd had their spiritual thirst thoroughly quenched by uplifting music, poetry and dance.
Beneath a near cloudless sky, the hundreds who attended this Wednesday free concert immersed themselves in every local and international act.
With hands outstretched in worship, voices unified in praise, and bodies swaying to the rhythm of the music, they demonstrated by their enthusiasm why this event is one of the most anticipated of the annual week-long Barbados gospel festival.
There were several standout performances but special mention must be made of the all-male Revival Time Tabernacle Choir from Canada. They gave such a powerful ministry in song that the crowd could not contain their excitement as they were swept up in the group’s melodious vocal offerings. One of the exceptional performances by this approximately 15-member choir was a Caribbean medley of songs, which included Don’t Try To Tell Me God Is Dead.
Another powerhouse performance came from Danielle Renee. This miracle of God’s healing power set the mood for worship as she ministered with two numbers, Trading My Sorrows and My Desire Is To Worship You.
Special mention must be made of 11-year-old Tori Cumberbatch. Such was the quality of her renditions that she received a thunderous applause from the crowd.
The Roland Edwards Primary School worship dancers also gave an awesome show at the concert,  which was again sponsored by the Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited.
These tiny tots moved across the stage with the grace and elegance of mature, seasoned performers. No wonder their ministry of is now a regular act at gospel events across Barbados.
One notable aspect was the tendency of most of the performers to say a few words before launching into their performance. While this can enhance a presentation, when it is done repeatedly, especially using the same words, it can be somewhat overbearing.
However, not even that could take away from what was a simply fantastic evening of praise and gratitude to God for his goodness. (RL)
