One of this island’s leading businessmen is sounding upbeat about the economic outlook.
Bjorn Bjerkham is convinced the recession which has dampened economic activity here for the past five years is starting to loosen.
He is pointing to some of his own projects as well as what has been happening internationally as evidence for his optimistic views.
“London is kicking, Toronto is kicking, New York is kicking, the world is waking up. Obviously we are not out of the recession but we sure are coming out of it,” the real estate developer and construction magnate said.
Bjerkham told the SUNDAY SUN a clear indication for him was that: “We (his company) have sold more property in the last five months than we have in the last four years . . . we are moving a lot of property and people are spending money again.”
Bjerkham’s JADA Group of companies is responsible for the construction of luxurious residential communities on  the west coast of the island, including Port Ferdinand Marina and Resort and the 57-apartment luxury complex St Peter’s Bay which the construction magnate said  was already “well occupied” and still “selling very well”.
