Holder: New bus schedules soon

Commuters should get an ease from lengthy waits in the bus terminals and at bus stops from next week.
Manager marketing and corporate communications, Lynda Holder, told the DAILY NATION the problems being experienced by commuters daily were as a result of the restructuring that Minister of Transport Michael Lashley had indicated.
“With that will come changes to our bus schedules . . . . We’re now working through those changes. Unfortunately we did not communicate those changes to the public as we should have and we do apologise for that,” Holder said, adding that the challenges should have been “cleaned up” by April.
She said the new schedules, which should take effect in June, will affect all routes and that she will be able to expand on the changes in greater details next week when she had the new schedules in hand.
“The idea behind it would be to offer more efficient service,” she said.
Holder stressed that the delays were not in any way related to the ongoing retrenchment exercise which had affected the Transport Board and other corporations, as was the popular perception.
