Burke wins Men’s Open

Barbados’ national junior champion Josh Burke continues to make waves in surfing.
Competing in three-foot glassy conditions over the Memorial Day weekend in the United States, Burke won the Men’s Open division of the 11th annual Steel Pier Classic which was hosted by Billabong at Virginia Beach.
He also placed a commendable fourth in the highly competitive Men’s Pro event after advancing to the finals.
Under invitation by his main sponsor, surf apparel giant Billabong, Burke participated in daily promotion activities with former ASP World surfing champion Mark “Occy” Occhilupo among others.
Burke, who is sponsored by Billabong, LIME, Reef, Epi-Dry, Rich Price Surfboards, Dakine, Futures, Nixon and VZ, is having an amazing year so far.
He has won six of his ten events locally and internationally, in addition to three Airshow wins at the NSSA Caribbean Conference.
Burke has a very busy international summer schedule as he is slated to compete at the NSSA Finals, the US Open of Surfing in California; the ASP World Qualifying Series men’s event in Mexico and tours on the East coast of the United States where he will compete in Florida, North Carolina Outter Banks, Virginia Beach and New Jersey.
