Star appeal

IT IS TIME for Twenty20 stars like Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine to play more four-day cricket and boost the standard of the West Indies first-class championship.
West Indies coach Ottis Gibson believes their participation will re-energise regional cricket and lift the standard of the regional championship.
Whereas Gayle, Bravo and Narine have all played Test cricket, Pollard is yet to do so and Gibson believes he could force his way into the side if he plays “more regional first-class cricket, put more numbers on the board and make himself available.”
Pollard played two matches for Trinidad and Tobago in this year’s four-day championship before leaving for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
