Organisers and sponsors have promised that the 2015 Digicel/Virgin Atlantic Open Golf tournament, to be hosted at the Barbados Golf Club, will be bigger and better.
Following the successful staging of the recent new two-day Open event, commercial director of Digicel, Alex Tasker, said plans were  being put in place to host well over 100 players next year.
Tasker spoke during an awards ceremony at the club-house of the Barbados Golf Club,  that followed competition on the fairways and greens on Sunday. Both he  and Nick Parker, Caribbean manager of Virgin Atlantic,  praised players and organisers for helping to create a successful and exciting tournament.
Winner of the men’s championship title, Carlsen Leacock, and winner of the women’s equivalent, Mavi Vergos, both collected crystal trophies and trips to London on Virgin Atlantic among their prizes.
Stays at leading hotels and mobile phones were also among the prizes presented to top performing players in five flights of competition.
The Digicel/ Virgin Atlantic Open tournament attracted 80 players, with several Barbados national representatives among them, and was contested over 36 holes.
