‘Can’t be business as usual’

IT SIMPLY CANNOT be business as usual after the latest downgrade  of the Barbados economy by Moody’s, says the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP).
Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley said in a statement hot on the heels  of the three-notch downgrade that Barbadians need to urgently sit up  and take stock at the stark reality  that this country cannot expect to do  the same things over and over and achieve different results.
“Yesterday’s further downgrade  by Moody’s by a staggering three notches must jolt us into our true reality. . . .  It cannot be business as usual,”  Mottley stated.
Noting that Barbados had been warned that increasing its overall debt would lead to a further downgrade, she stressed that the Government continued recklessly on that path by increasing  the local loans limit to $4 billion two weeks ago.
