Panel ‘should step down’

TRADE UNIONIST CASWELL FRANKLYN has called on the new Employment Rights Tribunal to step aside.
Yesterday, Franklyn outlined his concerns about the tribunal which met behind closed doors on Friday to start dealing with wrongful dismissal charges against the National Conservation Commission.
The head of the small Unity Trade Union said he was astonished that his union which had a number of issues before the tribunal had not yet been given a hearing.
 Franklyn said the tribunal needed to ensure that it was not influenced by any external forces “in one way or the other”, adding that it must always maintain a high level of independence.
