TEN LOCAL CHARITIES received funds to assist with their projects and programmes today when the American Women’s Club (AWC) disbursed cheques for over $18 000.
This morning, at The Main Guard of The Garrison, representatives from groups such as the Diabetes Association of Barbados, Precious Touch Foundation and Living Waters Community accepted the donations and spoke of how the funds will be used to assist those who need them most.
President of the club Marjorie Holder said they have been receiving more requests for donations over the years but were only able to cater to ten organizations this year.
She said the mandate for this year will be to concentrate more on fundraising. (LK)
